Cadfael desperately needed to look grown up. Desperately. The day had gone from bad to worse as disasters piled on and now he was the only one who could entertain the Affrica sisters until grown-ups were available.
But looking grown meant grown-up attention and Cadfael wasn’t at all sure he was ready to deal with that.
At least not without a knife in his hands.
